Charini Gunaratne

Charini is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of Australian Psychology Society (APS), a fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists, and a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA). Charini’s clinical experience includes working in paediatric rehabilitation, adolescent mental health, and private practice, providing therapeutic support to individuals across the lifespan with diverse and complex presentations. Additionally, as a senior lecturer in psychology, Charini holds over a decade of experience in teaching undergraduate psychology, and supervising honours’, Masters’ and PhD students, with research focusing on trauma, resilience, psychological well-being, peri- and post-natal mental health, mental health of frontline responders, and COVID-19 impacts on nonclinical healthcare workers and university students. Dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey through parenthood, Charini adopts a warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach prioritising a client-centred, collaborative, and flexible therapeutic environment. She integrates various modalities into her practice including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, and the Unified Protocol. Charini has also completed perinatal specific training with the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE).
